Sardar Parkash Singh Badal had pledged to set up the Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University at Fatehgarh Sahib in front of a huge gathering of worshippers at Sri Amritsar on the 400th anniversary of the compilation and first installation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. One of the major decisions Sardar Parkash Singh Badal initiated after becoming the Chief Minister of Punjab is to get a bill passed by the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. That is when the University got statutory character vide Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Act (20/2008).


The aim and vision of Sardar Parkash Singh Badal, ardor of Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal and the invigorating guidance of S.G.P.C President, Jathedar Avtar Singh has led to the success of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University which spans over 84 acres of a scenic and mesmerizing campus. Departments of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Studies and Sikh Historiography would be included in the University in the Faculty of Religious and Civilization Studies along with the Faculties of the Arts & Humanities, Sciences and Technologies, and Social Sciences.

SGGWU Campus
The Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University campus is situated in Chandigarh, Punjab. The University provides Transportation facilities, Laptops, Research facilities and hostel facilities. Sri Guru Granth Sahib Faculties would include a magnificent campus, with the state of the art laboratories, scope for extracurricular and an ambiance which would reform the students into wonderful people.
